Practices for Election Stress

Oct 29, 2024 | Reflections, Videos,

Hello Friends,

The last few days have been vibrant, with nature inviting me outside to her grounded truth. Meanwhile, in my internal world, anxiety, tension, and stress have increased as election day approaches.

My personal angst and the request of several students prompted me to create a FREE Practice for Election Stress. Grab a cushion and a blanket for this 20-minute practice, you’ll find the link below.

As we enter the final week, I turn to my core practices for centering and balance:

  • Get outside
  • Breathe, meditate, tune into, and ground my body daily
  • Enjoy doggy snuggles from Leo
  • Interact with my neighbors and recognize our shared humanity. We are people making our way through the world, wishing for happiness, security, and well-being.
  • Do what I can now: vote, volunteer, and have conversations with friends using non-judgemental, active listening.
  • Take a media break when I feel overwhelmed and tune into the present moment–my body, breath, nature, and those around me.
  • Do my part, then release control. Here’s a song to center and remind you–I Release Control by Alexa Sunshine Rose.

At the request of many students, I created the 20-Minutes a Day Mini-Practice Series, which begins November 11. This five-day series of 20-minute practices is offered On-Demand. This series of diverse practice themes is designed to bring you into your body and breath, allowing you to ground and center yourself through short and accessible daily practices. You’ll find more details on the Events page here.

May you find inner peace and grounding in the upcoming week, sustained by your practice and connection within our Sangha.
