Nourishing My Roots

Jan 06, 2025 | Conscious Living, Reflections,

My word for the month is “nourish,” which represents my personal focus: nourishing self-care.

I often watch the sweet gum tree outside my window, observing her transformation through the seasons. I imagine her roots extending deep into the earth, nourishing her growth even when her branches are bare in the stillness of winter. Similarly, I am incorporating moments of self-care and reflection into each day, taking time to acknowledge my physical and internal worlds as I nourish my roots this winter.

Each day this winter, I’ve prioritized time to pause with my journal over evening tea, read poetry, and nurture myself through restorative stillness. These practices help me see myself, observe and process my thoughts and emotions, and ground me during winter’s rest. These small acts of self-care are nourishing not only for my healing body but for my connection to self and to Source. I’m finding that these moments of respite deeply nourish my roots, the foundation of my physical and spiritual being.

Over the past few years, I have been drawn to quiet, grounded practices that reflect this imagery. By body sensing, breathing deeply, and connecting to the ground, I find nourishment, integration, and a deeper connection to my center. Here, I find solace and inner quiet.

My winter practice offerings emphasize mindful approaches and foster self-love through contemplative, grounded yoga. In addition to my regular weekday classes, the Yoga and Self-Care Series, Restorative Yoga, and Weekend Unwind encourage us to move mindfully, breathe deeply, and nourish ourselves—physically, mentally, and emotionally—with loving attention.

If you seek integration, nurturing movement, and a supportive space for mindful yoga, I invite you to join me for practice. You are welcome just as you are.

I look forward to seeing you in practice soon.
