Restorative yoga is a specialized practice for those who desire deep relaxation, rest, nurturing and restoration. Restorative class will have a contemplative, restful energy and aim to enhance freedom in the body while calming the nervous system and grounding you energetically. This special manner of practicing utilizes bolsters, cushions, blankets and chairs to completely support the body through a selected sequence of postures. The body then deeply relaxes while the posture is being held. All of the benefits of yoga are received without any expenditure of energy.

Meditation offers many benefits to overall health, peace of mind and emotional well being. In meditation practice, steady focus on sensation, the breath, or an object offers the opportunity to find the stillness under the busyness of the mind. This class will begin with a gentle warm up for the body followed by breath work to quiet the mind and draw your awareness inward. Discussion and practice will be offered for those new to meditation.

Led by Senior Kripalu Yoga teacher Lynn Maloney, this extended class begins with sanskrit chanting and is followed by yoga postures, pranayama, restorative postures, relaxation and seated meditation. This class is designed to develop awareness of prana, the subtle energy that all yogic practice is based upon. The class is appropriate for beginners as well as more advanced students seeking a more internal practice.
